Worksop Driving School

Well, Stigs World has been taking driving schools for a test drive again. This time, Stig hooked up with Andrew Buckler from Worksop Driving School. Before I go on to tell you about my review, I’ve got to say that I though Andrew Buckler from Worksop Driving School has got to be one of the most ambitious driving instructors in Worksop – I thought I’d just put that out there before I get stuck into my Blog.

Andrew is fairly new to the Driving Instructor industry but this doesn’t mean that he’s the greenest. I met up with Andrew in his local Costa and I ordered a cheese and ham toasty and he ordered himself just a black coffee. I started of asking Andrew about his passion for teaching and he explained to me that his passion for teaching had always been there right from his early teen years. He also told me about his enthusiasm for driving too.

Andrew used to go karting when he was a small child and still shares this enthusiasm with his son today. So Andrew told me that it sort of made sense that he married these two passions together, teaching and driving. He said that it was a natural choice for him to become a driving instructor. Without being over zealous and sounding to ambitious, he said that he wanted to have one of the best driving schools in Workshop or if possible, to be the best driving school in his area.

I have to say, I had instant admiration for Andrew. His enthusiasm certainly shone through immediately. Andrew went on to tell me more about his experience so far as a driving instructor, although his career is still less than a year old, it sounded like he had toms of knowledge about the industry.

His driving instructor career started off with one of the big national driving schools and he said that this was ok but he couldn’t see himself there for ever. Andrew went on to say that this was ok as it meant he learnt a bit of the ropes while under this national driving school. He explained that the only down side to this was that the office was not passing him pupils on a regular basis and this meant that there was risk to his earnings and salary.

This is where Andrew goes on to say that he knew he could run a business, especially a driving school. After all, how hard can it be?

Before long, Andrew left his company where he was working as a driving instructor and took a leap of faith and set up his own company which is called Worksop Driving School and he can’t believe how well it’s doing.

Andrew has gone from strength to strength and so much so that he is now even considering employing other instructors on a franchise to work for him. I get the impression that he truly is business orientated as well as being a good driver. I’ve arranged to meet up with Andrew in 6 months time so we can see how his business is progressing.
